Lobuje East Climbing

Lobuje East is an attractive summit, offering a variety of existing routes and wide scope for new lines. This peak of 6,145 m lies in the Solukhumbu region and is one of the hardest of the trekking peak in the Everest Region. It takes around 7/8 days from Lukla to reach the Lobuje Base Camp. Our 22 days Lobuje East Climb will take you to this fantastic peak visiting enroute Gokyo Valley and ending at Everest Base Camp with a magnificent view of Everest from Kalapathar.

Lobuje East is rarely climbed and is often mistaken as Lobuje West. Although they are connected by a continuous ridge there is a sharp gap and a considerable distance between them. This East peak is recognized as a trekking peak whereas the Lobuje West is known as an expedition peak. There exist two distinct summits to Lobuje Peak : Lobuje East (6,119m/20,075 ft) and Lobuje West 6,145m/20,161 ft). The dark triangle of its rocky East face rises over the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier to an icy skyline. This skyline forms the south ridge, the junction of the east face with the glaciated south-west face and the line of the normal route of ascent. This in turn leads to the summit ridge running north-west from the top of East face through several small summits to form the south ridge. The true East Peak is quite striking and is reached by descending into a marked notch and climbing steep snow/ice slopes to the top. Top is exposed and often covered with rotten ice.

In order to attempt climbing Lobuje East one needs to be physically fit and should have knowledge of mountaineering climbing.
