Duration 25 Days

Naar With Upper Mustang trek is a trip which brings together two ancient kingdom for exploration. If the Lost Kingdom of Naar and the Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang sound like mythical places to you, we have got news for you. A trail now exists connecting these two places – yes, they are real – through the Teri La pass (5,560 m). The week long walk is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure through wild and uninhabited parts of Nepal.

The gorgeous valleys of Naar and upper Mustang are arid and dry. The topography here is distinct from some of the other trails that Nepal has to offer. Colorful rock formations, with caves high up in the cliffs, make this kind of scenery very exotic. Authentic Tibetan communities inhabit these valleys. The journey of naar with upper mustang trek culminates in Lo Manthang, the capital of the Forbidden Kingdom.

Once upon a time, the district of Mustang was a part of the Tibetan empire. Sheltered from hyper-commercialized forms of tourism, it is known as the last bastion of authentic Tibetan culture. The trek through this region therefore involves uncovering the hidden mysteries of this ancient world.

Highlights of Naar with Upper Mustang Trek:

  • Sightseeing tours of Buddhist Monastery, Hindu Temple & and Old Palaces
  • High Plateau, Remote Tibetan Villages built of stone, ancient Buddhist
  • Crossing high pass
  • Week long walk through wild and uninhabited region
  • Magnificent panorama view of Annapurna massif, view of Himlung Peak, Kang Garu Peak
  • Amazing Landscapes

Built in 250 BC and known to be the largest in Nepal, this stupa displays typical Buddhist architecture. With painted eyes on all four sides symbolizing the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha, this historical monument rests on thirteen tiers, and it represents the elevator to Nirvana. The big white dome of the Swayambunath stupa is regarded as a spotless and pure jewel of Nirvana. The vicinity of the Swayambunath stupa is surrounded by hundreds of other Buddhist shrines all around.

Next you will be driven to Bhaktapur (1,401 m) which lies 18 km east of Kathmandu. Once the capital of the entire valley, Bhaktapur now is the most isolated and unchanged among the three former kingdoms. Covering an area of 4 sq. miles, this ancient city of Bhaktapur is utterly peaceful yet its busy streets preserve the medieval atmosphere of the city’s bygone era.

On your way back from Bhaktapur, you will visit the Pashupatinath temple. Considered to be the subcontinent’s holiest Lord Shiva shrine, Pashupatinath with its two-tiered golden roof and a silver door is situated very near to the banks of the sacred Baghmati River. The temple is surrounded by numerous smaller shrines, ashrams, images, idols and inscriptions raised over the centuries. In Nepal too the Pashupatinath temple is the most sacred among all Hindu shrines around the country. Overnight in a hotel
