Day 01: Arrival in Paro → Drive to Thimphu (2,300m)
You will be arriving in Bhutan with a spectacular Himalayan flight into Paro, as you’ll be looking at the panoramic views of some of the world’s highest peaks. After completing arrival formalities, you’ll be welcomed by your local guide at the airport. Afternoon Experience: Memorial Chorten (Thimphu Stupa)
We will visit the Memorial Chorten, one of Thimphu’s most important spiritual landmarks. Built in 1974 in honor of Bhutan’s Third King, this sacred stupa is a place of daily devotion for locals.

Day 02: Explore Thimphu: Monasteries, Meditation & Spiritual Practices

Hike to Cheri Monastery
We will then take a scenic drive north of Thimphu, followed by a gentle hike through forested trails to Cheri Monastery. This is a mystical monastery wrapped in myth and mystery and was established in 1620 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
Surrounded by nature and steeped in spiritual history, this monastery offers a peaceful setting for quiet reflection and guided meditation. This is the key part of our Bhutan meditation tour experience.

Day 03: Thimphu → Punakha (1,200m) via Dochula Pass

We will then depart for Thimphu and drive toward Punakha, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass (3,050m). On clear days, the pass offers sweeping views of the eastern Himalayas. The area is adorned with fluttering prayer flags and the iconic 108 chortens, built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers who died battling the insurgents from India. Chortens are important shrines, which are tombs of saints or monuments dedicated to Buddha.
Here, you can take time to walk around the pass, absorb the mountain views, and enjoy a short break with tea or coffee.
Descent into Punakha Valley
We will then continue the drive descending into the warmer Punakha Valley, passing through traditional villages such as Lumitsawa, Thinleygang, and Lobesa. The route winds through forests of rhododendron and magnolia before opening into terraced farmland and river valleys.
Hike to Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple)
From the valley floor, we will go on a gentle hike through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, a revered monastery associated with fertility and blessings. This peaceful walk offers a closer look at rural Bhutanese life and spiritual traditions.
Visit Punakha Dzong
We will visit Punakha Dzong in the late afternoon. This is one of Bhutan’s most stunning and historically significant monasteries, located at the confluence of two rivers. Built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong is an architectural masterpiece and an important center of Bhutanese spirituality and governance.

We will first stop at Chendebji Chorten, a striking white stupa inspired by Nepalese design. It can be distinguished by its painted eyes facing the four cardinal directions. This sacred monument stands as a spiritual waypoint along the route and offers a unique contrast to other Bhutanese chortens.
Crossing the Central Himalayan Passes
We will then continue the journey crossing Pele La Pass (3,420m), one of Bhutan’s major mountain passes, marking the transition into central Bhutan. As we travel further, we will cross Yotong La Pass (3,400m), surrounded by dense coniferous forests and quiet alpine landscapes.
These high passes offer a gradual shift in scenery. You will go from subtropical valleys to cooler, forested highlands, enhancing the sense of entering a more remote and spiritual region.
Arrival in Bumthang Valley

Visit Membartsho (Burning Lake)
We will begin with a visit to Membartsho, one of Bhutan’s most revered pilgrimage sites. Surrounded by prayer flags and a religious aura, this sacred river gorge is associated with the legendary saint Terton Pema Lingpa. He is believed to have discovered hidden spiritual treasures here. The nuns of Pema Tekchok Choling Nunnery take care of the site.
Tsatsas, or little conical clay mounds, can be found in several locations surrounding the lake, carved with a sacred Buddhist symbol. They may also include human ash or bone of the deceased. You can also offer a butter lamp for the good wishes of your family and folks here.
Tharpaling Monastery & Meditation Experience (3,600m)
We will continue along the feeder road to Tharpaling Monastery, located high above the Chumey Valley (3,600 meters). This important meditation center has been a retreat site for monks and spiritual practitioners seeking solitude and insight for ages.
Set against a pristine Himalayan backdrop, the monastery offers a tranquil & pristine environment ideal for reflection. Here, you’ll take part in a guided meditation session, allowing you to connect with the stillness and spiritual energy of the surroundings.

Day 06: Bumthang → Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley)
We will depart Bumthang early and journey toward Gangtey, a scenic drive of approximately six hours through central Bhutan. Along the way, you’ll get a glimpse into everyday Bhutanese life, passing traditional farmhouses, small temples, and villages where local farmers can often be seen wearing distinctive woven bamboo hats.
As the landscape gradually opens, you arrive in the beautiful Phobjikha Valley: one of Bhutan’s few glacial valleys, known for its serene, wide, and sweeping views.
Arrival in Phobjikha Valley
Phobjikha is a serene and naturally beautiful place, often regarded as one of the most peaceful regions in Bhutan. During the winter months (November to March), the valley becomes home to the rare black-necked cranes that migrate from the Tibetan Plateau, adding to its ecological and cultural significance.

We will reach Kayche La Pass (3,700m), marked by fluttering prayer flags and expansive mountain views. From here, the trail gently descends into the open valley, transitioning into wide alpine meadows and traditional village landscapes.

Day 09: Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang)
